    Near East College receives first prize at the Composition Writing Competition themed on Atatürk

    The 8th Composition Writing Composition themed on Atatürk was jointly organised by the Ministry of National Education and Culture, and by Telsim Vodafone. The competition was held among the students studying in the middle schools in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Near East College student Selin Yüksel’s composition, titled as “Bağımsız Adalet Yok Olan Devlet”, was selected as the best composition written and was awarded first prize.

    According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, due to the commemoration events held for the great Turkish leader Atatürk, a composition writing competition was held among the middle schools in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and was based around the theme

    “A nation whose power of justice is not independent, cannot be considered as a state entity”. It was pointed out that a total of 64 compositions were submitted to the competition and Near East College student Selin Yüksel’s composition was selected to win the first prize. Furthermore, the prizes of the competition were given at a ceremony organised at the Ministry of National Education and Culture building and Near East College Selin Yüksel was awarded with a Vodafone Smart 7 mobile phone as first prize.

    Making a statement on the matter, Vice Principal of Near East College Ömer Özkan expressed that they were very proud of their student’s achievement. In this regard, he congratulated Selin Yüksel and also thanked the Near East College teachers for their contribution in her success.

    Making further remarks, Ömer Özkan expressed that Turkish Language was among the nicest languages in the world and added that as the Near East College they worked hard to educate students to be able to use their native language efficiently and resultantly, their students used their language skills in such ways and therefore achieved many successes such as the one achieved by Selin Yüksel.

    Ömer Özkan emphasised that they as the Near East College were aware of the significance of raising individuals who can make use of effective language skills as this was a skill required throughout one’s life; whether in student life or during career years. In this regard, Ömer Özkan stated that they had structured the education given at the school to effectively improve students’ communication skills.
