• Near East College Students visit Taşkent Martyrdom to learn details of History


    With the assistance of their history teacher, Near East College Observation and Research Club students visited the Taşkent Martyrdom to learn about the 83 martyrs of 14th August 1974 who were killed in Taşkent, Terazi and Tatlısu.

    According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Observation and Research Club students of Near East College were informed about the details of the martyrs who were buried there and observed the objects displayed at the museum located at the martyrdom.


    The students were also provided details on the works carried out by The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) and that they had found the 33 martyrs and they were interred in the Taşkent Martyrdom. Furthermore, the Near East College Observation and Research Club students were told that a total of 83 Turkish Cypriot Martyrs were buried at the site.

    It was stated that subsequent to the visit the Near East College Observation and Research Club students made a statement, expressing how they hoped and wished that the sorrows and pain encountered during very recent history never to repeat again. They added that they would be doing everything within their power to avoid such days.
