Erden Gazioğlu

Erden Gazioğlu was born in the Lefkoşa, the second child of Ahmet Cemal Gazioğlu and Aktan Gazioğlu, both teachers. At an early age, he moved to England with his family and completed his primary, secondary and tertiary education in the UK. He attended Woodhouse Grammar School, London and continued his higher education at Birmingham University (Commerce) and Middlesex University, graduating with a BA Honours degree in Business Studies.

Returning to Cyprus to take over a family-run business, he set up and managed a medium-sized import-export and manufacturing company from 1986 to 2002.

Having completed a one-year CELTA course at the Eastern Mediterranean University, he gained his teaching qualifications in 2002. His first teaching post was as an English teacher at the Girne American College. In November 2002, he was employed by the Near East College’s English Department and completed his pedagogical training at the Near East University in the same academic year. He has been a member of staff at the Near East College from 2002 up until the current 2015-16 academic year. Alongside teaching English (English as a Second Language, IGCSE First Language, GCE AS level and IELTS), he has also been appointed as the school’s Examinations Officer (since 2008), coordinating IGCSE and GCE examinations for the Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International Examinations Boards.

In September 2015 he became Head of the Arts Department at the Near East College.

He is married and has 3 children.
