Sıdıka Borucu

Who is Sıdıka Borucu.I was born in England on 27 January 1982. We used to live in South West London, close to Tooting Bec  common. My father was a mechanic and worked long hours while my mother was always around.

At the weekends my sister and I used to go to Ballet on Saturdays and Turkish school on Sunday’s. Travelling to North London was not easy but we did it.

My family and I relocated to North Cyprus  in 1992. I was 10 years old and according to educational laws had to do another year at primary school. I graduated from Gelibolu Primary school and then moved on to BTMK and graduated from TMK in 1999.

During my last year of high school I prepared for the YOS examination and won a place at Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, Turkey.

There I studied English Language teaching and came back to North Cyprus in 2004 after receiving my degree. I was very lucky as I graduated in the summer and started to work at The Near East College in the same year.

I have been teaching since 2004 and can’t imagine doing  anything else.

Teaching is my life……

They were my students in year 9, this year they started university.
Students who graduated in 2014. I first taught them in  2011……..

The Village life style.

I live with my husband and son in Dagyolu which is a small village. It is situated in the middle of Lefkosa and Girne. My family and I love the quiet  life we have away from crowded cities. It’s good to be able to come home after a long day at work and school and be away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Married life.

I have been married for 7 years this year. My husband, Serkan Senoz, is the sales manager of Dovec Construction. He has been working for the firm for 5 years now. He tends to go abroad for property exhibitions to countries such as Kuwait, Russia, Qatar and Iran.

The company loves to celebrate each employee’s birthday. Here is a photo taken by Burcin Dovec, the director. .

My one and only.

My son, Mehmet Aydin named after both his grandfathers was born in 2010 at Magosa Yasam hospital. We first lived in Yeni Bogaz ici but then moved to the village to be closer to my parents and closer to school. He was 10 days old when we moved and  we weren’t able to move into our own house until a year later. Living with parents can be hard at times but my family supported us so much that I believe living with them after the baby was born was the best decision I made.

Who am I? I’m a teacher

A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart…..
